After you decide to buy or sell Big Canoe® real estate, finding the right realtor is probably going to be one of the first things that comes to mind. There are plenty of us out there, and meeting with someone is never farther than a phone call or e-mail away.
Unfortunately, however, not everyone is as patient or professional as they should be, and having the wrong realtor can turn the whole experience of buying or selling your home into a nightmare. With that in mind, here are three red flags when it comes to meeting realtors. If you notice any of them, be very careful about going any further:
The realtor seems to be rushing you. Chances are, this is going to be a very big decision for you. You want a realtor who understands that and is willing to take the time necessary to get it right. If you feel rushed during the first meetings, imagine what the pressure will be like after you’ve seen a few properties and met with a couple of buyers.
The realtor ignores your preferences. Sometimes, there are good reasons for showing a potential homebuyer properties that are outside of their preferred area or budget. If your realtor seems to blatantly disregard what you’re looking for, however, or just doesn’t take the time to listen, then it’s not worth investing anymore of your time and energy.
You can’t reach your realtor for long stretches of time. Granted, if you’re trying to call your real estate agent at 3 o’clock in the morning, the problem might be with you. But in most cases, you should have a good flow of information, advice, and opinions back-and-forth. You’re not just paying for expertise, but also service, so make sure you’re getting that part of the deal.
